This is going to be spread out over many parts, and we’re going to start from scratch.
First we need web hosting, I will recommend the company I use as you get 7500GB of transfers each month and 750GB of webspace. Plus you have easy building tools included and auto installers to make your life really easy. You will be really pushed to find a better deal online.Take a look here and add the code CUST24180 to receive 75 GB of extra storage. I have about 22 sites hosted on my account, so it works out really low priced.
Now you have the hosting, you require a domain name for your website. You need to build a niche on a subject you really know and enjoy. If you play the guitar then you could build a site on this subject, or if you’re into gardening then pick this subject. Once you know which niche, then we need to look at the keywords related to this niche. I use a toolbar to find my keywords you can find out how to use it and more about it here. Once you’ve found some excellent keywords with plenty of searches each month, see if the domain is available. I use Name Cheap to purchase my domains, go to there homepage and under “Enter the domain name you want” type your chosen keywords first together, so if you’ve chosen garden tools, type gardentools in the search box without the gap, make sure .com is selected and click search. if it’s taken then try it with a dash, so enter garden-tools. Keep entering your keywords until you have a domain that’s available. If you can’t find one available, try adding a word to the beginning or end, so qualitygardentools and quality-garden-tools. Once you’ve found one, open an account with namecheap and purchase the domain name.
Once the confirmation has come through and the domain is listed in your namecheap account, you can then point it to your hosting, if you purchased the Servage hosting mention above then, click on the domain name in your namecheap account and on the left you need to click on “Transfer DNS to Webhost” in the centre of the page you will see 5 blank boxes, in the top two you need to enter ns1.servage.net and ns2.servage.net then click save changes. Give it up to 48 hours, then your domain name will be pointing to your web hosting.
We can now start building you site, this will be covered in part two.

Is it better to purchase a dot com domain name or can you get by with any of the other extensions.
Search Engines will tell you that they are not bothered which extension you have at the end of your domain name and you’ll probably find that the name you require is available in one of the other extensions, all bar .com, but unless you have a good reason to pick another type of extension, stick to .com.
.com is the most well know extension and the most credible, also not everyone believes that the search engines are telling the truth when they say it doesn’t matter. .info has a reputation of being cheap and associated with template and spam sites, if you use a .info extension then you’ve probably put your site within a poor crowd of websites.
Do some research on the search engines and you’ll see that .com is king, you may save money using a alternative extension, but you may harm you sites search engine ranking.
If you’re going to build a website, stick to .coms.
