This is going to be spread out over many parts, and we’re going to start from scratch.

First we need web hosting, I will recommend the company I use as you get 7500GB of transfers each month and 750GB of webspace. Now you have the hosting, you require a domain name for your website. You need to build a niche on a subject you really know and enjoy. If you play the guitar then you could build a site on this subject, or if you’re into gardening then pick this subject. Once you know which niche, then we need to look at the keywords related to this niche. I use a toolbar to find my keywords you can find out how to use it and more about it here. Once you’ve found some excellent keywords with plenty of searches each month, see if the domain is available. I use Name Cheap to purchase my domains, go to there homepage and under “Enter the domain name you want” type your chosen keywords first together, so if you’ve chosen garden tools, type gardentools in the search box without the gap, make sure .com is selected and click search. if it’s taken then try it with a dash, so enter garden-tools. Keep entering your keywords until you have a domain that’s available. If you can’t find one available, try adding a word to the beginning or end, so qualitygardentools and quality-garden-tools. Once you’ve found one, open an account with namecheap and purchase the domain name.

Once the confirmation has come through and the domain is listed in your namecheap account, you can then point it to your hosting, if you purchased the Servage hosting mention above then, click on the domain name in your namecheap account and on the left you need to click on “Transfer DNS to Webhost” in the centre of the page you will see 5 blank boxes, in the top two you need to enter ns1.servage.net and ns2.servage.net then click save changes. Give it up to 48 hours, then your domain name will be pointing to your web hosting.
