Making Money With Podcasts

from:

Companies can use podcasts to get listeners and as a consequence new customers for your business. You can create those podcasts in such a way that they get you more sales. That's how podcasts can make you money. Below are some tips on using podcasts to make money.

Give out expert advice in them: Learn how to create podcasts, record and edit them, adding video and music, and you have the chance of offering small companies the chance of making their own podcasts. Voice actors and voice coaches can find a lot of work in this field. A vocal coach has the opportunity to help companies develop some talent in-house, to use in podcasts, while voice actors can be hired by small businesses for podcasts that aren't done on a regular basis.

Look for podcast sponsors: plenty of businesses will agree to give you a sponsorship if you're producing great podcasts and there are enough people following what you have to say. If you manage to grow your podcast to be very successful, big companies might want to do a major sponsorship. Another way would be to get a number of smaller sponsorships.

Because sometimes getting a sponsor can drive listeners away, you need to find a sponsor that actually adds to the value of the podcast, offering something that actually is of interest to those subscribed to your podcasts. I'll give you an example, about a podcast addressed to working moms. For such a podcast, you should look for a business that sells something to moms and their kids. Boost the number of people that listen to your podcast and then try to leverage those numbers by getting a company to sponsor. One other thing that companies can do is offer free stuff for you to offer as prizes to the listeners.

Use ads: you can embed ads in your podcast, either in the beginning or at the end of the audio file. It's pretty much the same like ads inserted on TV or in radio shows. To make sure that the advertisement doesn't annoy the listener, make sure that it's relevant and offers something interesting.

Do some self-advertising. When the podcast you're making is also your business, you should consider selling any other products or services you might have to the listener. Tell people what you have to offer and what are the benefits. If you don't exagerate with the selling of your own products, the listeners will be OK with it.

Offer the possibility of subscriptions: if you're offering quality material in your podcasts, you can take into consideration the possibility of charging people for the download of your podcast. If you're a small company it would be better to just offer it for free.

It's not an easy thing doing a lot of money from podcasts. You would need to invest serious time in your podcast for half a year or more before you get to a point where you can make serious money or where you can get a sponsor.
